Asterix

I may be partial to Tintin, but there’s no doubt that Asterix has played just as important of a part in the lives of many children in opening them up to a great world of adventure around the world. A few of our readers have requested that we feature Asterix, which is entirely appropriate.
The Adventures of Asterix is originally a French series written by René Goscinny and illustrated by Albert Uderzo and has been around since October 1959.
The series follows the two main characters, Asterix and Obelix in a one of the few remaining Gaul villages which has stayed independent of the Roman surrounding them.

The books all have a humorous map of the village in the back.
Asterix and his trusty sidekick Obelix travel to various countries around the world, with a similar sense of adventure as Tintin, But perhaps the best part of all the books in the last pages which contain a celebration in Gaul with giant boars, and the poor bard tied to a tree to stop him from singing.
We’d love to hear about your favorite Asterix memories of stories so please share them with us in the comments, or emails.
